I think it is a disgrace that Carrie Prejean should have even been asked this question (unless the same or equally controversial question was given to her rival, Kristen Dalton of Miss North Carolina).
During the show, Perez Hilton asked Carrie, "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?"
Carrie's response,"Well I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. Um, we live in a land that you can choose same sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and in, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman, No offense to anybody out there. But that's how I was raised and that's how I think that it should be between a man and a woman."
I applaud Miss Prejean for answering the way she truly believed instead of what may be "popular" in the US right now, let alone her own state of California! I know there may be other reasons, but I truly believe that she lost the pageant due to her answer and disagreeing with Hilton's point of view.
He is quoted as saying, "The way miss California answered her question lost her the crown, without a doubt!" Perez told Access Hollywood after the pageant.
Is this what the pageant has turned into? I thought it was a scholarship program! (ok ok, I had to throw in a bit of humor there)
Ok, I am off of my soap box... for now, at least! :)

You were a busy girl last night! I completely agree. It was unfair, and she should be judged not on making a "correct" answer but on the quality of her answer. How ridiculous that the judge even admitted afterwards that that was why she lost her crown? I think I am going to write her an letter thanking her for her bravery.
