Quilt Show

My home church back in Spring, Texas, Trinity Lutheran, hosts a quilt show every year. They showcase quilts from museums and then also anyone from the church or community can submit any quilt they have made (as long as it has not shown before). My mom usually submits her quilts but she had a lot going on this year so chose not to do so. We decided to go check it out last weekend while we waited on Ella.
I got so inspired and now I have so many ideas for more projects! These kinds of things are dangerous for me to go to but I can't get enough! lol

I have always wanted to do a super intricate quilt like this one. It's made with such small pieces that it had to of taken such a long time. Patience is the key with this one!:

This one gave me so many ideas for holiday decorations! The possibilities are endless!:

This one is a beautiful patriotic quilt with pictures and quotes from the Constitution on it:

This one is definitly on my to-do list! I love the lamb and his fuzzy soft fur. I would maybe pick some brighter colors for around the edge, but I love the pattern.

Here is a close-up of the fur:This one was amazing! I love hidden details and was the apidomy The leaves on all of the trees were made out of french knots. It was covered in lots of other embellishments; it had to of taken FOREVER! There were even little animals made out of ribbon and knots on some of the trees!

THis one is solid white. It is one that came from a museum. I love all of the details but I am still not sure how they did it since only the parts that pop out have the batting... :

This is another one from the museum. I wish I had a close up to show some of the details. It's fantastic!:

Sneak Peak

Here is a sneak peak of the current project that I'm working on. (One of the many, anyways)

I know someone who is going to be jealous of this one! (Stori! wink, wink!) lol

Lucy's Sweater

My mom's new Chihuahua, Lucy needed a project, too, so we decided that I would make her a sweater since the weather is starting to cool down. She's only 2 lbs... she's got to be freezing!! lol
It ended up being WAY too big on her! Even the xs size was swallowing her, poor thing. Looks like we will have to try to find a pattern even smaller, or do some alterations.

Diaper Pouch

Like I said, we got really crafty...

I made a diaper pouch for all of my diapers that float around in my diaper bag...

It can hold up to 8 diapers; The green damask print matches the outside print of my diaper bag. It's lined in white on white polka dots fabric and has a large white button as the closure. I love how the texture on the button compliments the polka dot fabric!

Cosmetic Bag

While we were waiting for Ella to arrive, we spent the week getting really crafty! Ive always wanted a handmade quilted makeup bag, so I took this opportunity to make it. I am in love with it! It's even lined :0!

Notice my signature paisley tag??

Avery 8 Months

19.2 lbs
30 inches long
Avery is developing so fast now!! Ever since she sat up it has been a fast change every day. She is crawling great now and getting fast. She loves to follow me around the house; it's been really nice because she is somewhat independent and can move around to go where she wants and get the toys that she wants, etc. As soon as she got the crawling stuff down she moved right into pulling up on furniture. This scares me since she still needs to work on her balance, but I know that until she is a great walker, there will be lots of "crash-and-burns" to come. Here is a video of her pulling up on my mom's recliner:

She uses her pointer fingers for everything!

One thing that she does that cracks us up is that she loves to "sing" into an empty bottle. I have one set aside with her toys that I call her "microphone." I think we might have a karaoke girl on our hands! lol
She is very aware of things going on around her. When she sees something or someone new she will stare at it for a while before she gives a reaction. You can totally see the wheels turning in that little head! She gets that from Jeff; he is very much a "studier"! She also loves textures. She will scratch and pick at upholstery, cloth, rocks, etc.
She jibber-jabs A LOT! She loves to let out a scream just to see how loud and long she can go... then laughs at the end. I can't help but laugh back at her, lol. She is still saying "mama"; we are working on "dada".
When she gets excited about something or sees something new she lets out a huge gasp as if she is shocked at everything around her! She's always had that surprised look on her face, but now she has the means of verbalizing it. lol
She still isn't a big eater but if she's hungry enough she will eat a lot in one sitting. I have a nibbler on my hands, though! She's always been that way. Even now, she will only take 3-4 ounces of formula in a feeding. She gets too distracted and impatient to sit long enough to eat more than that. I think I am going to try out the medium flow bottles to see if that helps at all.
I tried giving her a french fry just to see what she would do with real food, but she just mashed it in her hands and gave me a dirty look when I tried to get her to lick it. Somehow I dont think her dislike of french fries will last very long ;).
Now that it's October, we have to go get the flu shot :(. Other than that she doesn't see the doctor until she is 9 months.
