Say It Ain't So!

I really like the show "Jon and Kate Plus 8".... I hope the rumors are not true!

"In February, the 32-year-old was spotted flirting with -- and even attempting to kiss -- coeds at Juniata College, multiple students confirm to Us Weekly. (He denied any wrongdoing.) He told one coed "he was getting divorced." In the May Ladies Home Journal, he says, "I always thought I would be, like, 54 years old and marry a 19-year-old or something.""

Goodbye...

Last night's episode of LOST was supposed to be "the best of the season". Let's just say that I was HIGHLY disappointed in the events that unfolded.
Faraday was instantly one of my favorites. I have this kind of weird "thing" for smart, quirky men. I know, I know... but hey, just look at Jeff, they make wonderful husbands. lol
Anyhoo...We found out a lot about Faraday's life and his psychological abuse from his mom, Eloise Hawking; along with reassurance of our guess that Charles Widmore was his father. Besides a few blurbs of high level math jargin (that most of the views would not understand anyway), we did not learn much about what Faraday actually knew about the island. This is so frustrating.
Then at the end of the show, he is shot by his own mother! If that is not bad enough, she has such little respect and love for him, that she sent him back to the island with full knowledge that it would happen! What a psycho! ugh... Now we will never know exactly what he know and found out.
And so it stands that we have lost another one of my favorite characters :( I really hope that they bring him and Charlie back asap!
So the question stands.. Can you really change the future? If it is really Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurlye, etc's present, in the past, can they change what will happen?
How will the writters solve this one?
I really hope that they are not on some infinate loop, but I also hope that they can't change the future because that means that none of them would have ever met and this whole show has been a waste! lol jk

Facebook Quiz

So, I took one of those silly quizzes on Facebook that is supposed to "accurately" guess your personality... This one was called "What engagement ring style fits your personality". Here is what the result was:

"You're quite the individual! Good for you! You value tradition, but welcome change. You are intelligent, witty, sensitive, and have a diverse set of friends. You are as comfortable discussing politics as you are baking cookies. You have strong morals and principals and are respected by others. You have a purpose and it will be realized."

While the ring doesn't look anything like my real engagement ring, I think the description is pretty accurate. I especially like the part, "You are as comforable discussing politics as you are baking cookies." For those of you who know me, I think you would agree! lol

Jazz Fest

Jeff and I went down to New Orleans for Jazz Fest this year. Yesterday is the only day that we will be able to make it, but Dave Matthews, Wayne Toups, and Better than Ezra were playing so it was the best day, anyways. It was a lot of fun; another thing to check off my list of "things to do while living in Louisiana", but the hygienics were pretty gross and the crowds got a little overwhelming. I definitely would not go unless we had the free perks (ie cleaner bathrooms, a tent with tables and chairs, and free food, beer and drinks) from Shell Oil! Here are a few pics:

Culprit

So, after a great girls day full of shopping, brunch, and lots of laughter, I came home and immediately (like most days) went to check on the progress of my vegetables.... this is when I found this:

This was my FIRST tomato! I was so excited that I finally had one turning red, but obviously something got to it first! :( What a disappointment...
I guess I am going to have to build a cage... or maybe a trap! lol

Fix

I got my Sushi fix for a while! Jeff is never too sure about the stuff, but he is always a good sport. I can't get enough. It was a beautiful night so drinks with Tim and Allyson on the rooftop of Tsunami's with a view of the Mississippi River just topped it off. :)

Favorite

This is my favorite part of LOST so far! Every time I watch it I crack up. Ben's face is classic; he's thinking, "what the heck was that?!"

This didn't take long...

I knew someone would grab Susan Boyle as soon as she walked off the stage! She has unveiled a new look with some hair dye and a new outfit. She is so very modest and confident. Check out what she has to say here. Even if she doesn't win the show, she is destined for an amazing career.

Burn One Down

"If you don't like my fire, then don't come around,
'cause I'm gonna burn one down.
Yes, I'm gonna burn one down." ~ Ben Harper

The saga continues...

I just finished "New Moon". Part 2 of the Twilight series.
I can't stand it! Is Edward going to turn Bella into a vampire, or not?! I guess I will have to start "Eclipse" (Part 3) tonight...

Just for a laugh

I think that people in the advertising world these days have to be on crack or something! Just these two commercials are enough to prove it! Gotta laugh, though. They served their purpose and made you remember them.

This gives me Peace...

Because I know that I am being tested...

Romans 1: 16-17 "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith.""

1 Corinthians 6:9

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders...will inherit the kingdom of God."

1 Corinthians 7:20
"You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body"

US Tea Parties

Last Wednesday I went to a Tea Party here in Mandeville, LA. It was the most moving, exciting, informing, eye-opening, and political thing I have ever done! I only took a few pictures (you can find them on facebook), but I found this video of the one from The Woodlands where my family went and it is done really well, so I thought I would share. I hope you enjoy!

A Meme about Jeff and Me

I was tagged by my friend Stori...

1. What are your middle names?
Me- Jeanne
Jeff- Alan; He didn't even know how to spell it until we got married and had to put it on the invitations! lol

2. How long have you been together?
almost 4 (2 years of dating and almost 2 married)

3. How long did you know each other before you started dating?
about 2 months... He was VERY persistent and would have started right away, but I made him wait a little bit

4. Who asked whom out?
He asked me out. I don't do that kind of stuff; that is for the men

5. How old are each of you?
I am 23; Jeff is 27

6. Whose siblings do you see the most?
Oh! this is a great one! Long story, short... Jeff's twin brother is married to my older sister, so when we see my siblings, we see Jeff's also.

7. Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
hmmm... keeping our budget

8. Did you go to the same school?
nope... I grew up close to The Woodlands and went to private schools pre-k through high school. I then graduated from Texas Tech; Jeff grew up in Nederland,Tx and went to Nederland schools. He then graduated from A&M University

9. Are you from the same home town?
see #8

10. Who is smarter?
Jeff- DEFINITELY! He continually amazes me at the extent of his knowledge. Let's just say that he could have gone to any Ivy League school that he wanted but did not want to pay for it for the rest of his life...

11. Who is the most sensitive?
me! I am the girl of the relationship...

12. Where do you eat out most as a couple?
hmmm... some kind of mexican or seafood

13. Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Rome, Italy on our honeymoon. It was AMAZING! I can not wait to go back to Italy

14. Who has the craziest exes?
hmmm him? I prefer not to talk about his exes... ;)

15. Who has the worst temper?
me... he is so even tempered it makes me even more mad! lol

16. Who does the cooking?
I do anything that is inside; Jeff grills; and we both love to bake!

17. Who is the neat-freak?
Me! I would say (and many have told me) that I am borderline OCD.
Jeff likes things neat, but does not like the process it takes to get it that way. That is where I come in!

18. Who is more stubborn?
hmm... well since he is so smart and can back up every argument with statistical fact and information (no matter the situation), I would have to say that I am more stubborn because even the known facts won't change my opinion when I am thinking with my emotional side... see #11 & #15

19. Who hogs the bed?
me! I made him buy me a king size bed because I need lots of room to sleep

20. Who wakes up earlier?
Jeff- 5:30am- ish.... Since I am a bum lately, I get to sleep in till about 7 :)

21. Where was your first date?
haha! I think it was Luby's... Romantic, hu?! I love that restaurant, though.

22. Who is more jealous?
Me... see #14
I never want to lose him!

23. How long did it take to get serious?
Not long... we knew we were right for each other pretty much right away

24. Who eats more?
hmmm Jeff?? I would like to think that he does, anyways.. ;)

25. Who does the laundry?
Me! Last week I found his secret pile of clothes that he calls his "I've only worn these once so they are not dirty enough to be cleaned" pile... GROSS! I washed it immediately!

26. Who's better with the computer?
I don't know... I think it would be me since I have more experience with some different programs, but if anything goes wrong, we are in trouble

27. Who drives when you are together?
Jeff, Always! I hate to drive if I do not have to. I am a bit of a "backseat driver" though. Sorry!

Disgrace!

http://omg.yahoo.com/news/perez-hilton-the-way-miss-california-answered-her-question-lost-her-the-crown/21528?nc

I think it is a disgrace that Carrie Prejean should have even been asked this question (unless the same or equally controversial question was given to her rival, Kristen Dalton of Miss North Carolina).

During the show, Perez Hilton asked Carrie, "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?"

Carrie's response,"Well I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. Um, we live in a land that you can choose same sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and in, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman, No offense to anybody out there. But that's how I was raised and that's how I think that it should be between a man and a woman."

I applaud Miss Prejean for answering the way she truly believed instead of what may be "popular" in the US right now, let alone her own state of California! I know there may be other reasons, but I truly believe that she lost the pageant due to her answer and disagreeing with Hilton's point of view.
He is quoted as saying, "The way miss California answered her question lost her the crown, without a doubt!" Perez told Access Hollywood after the pageant.
Is this what the pageant has turned into? I thought it was a scholarship program! (ok ok, I had to throw in a bit of humor there)
Ok, I am off of my soap box... for now, at least! :)

Good Night Irena

This is very touching!

Twilight

So, I broke down last night and rented Twilight. Like I expected, it was not nearly as good as the book, but it was still awesome! I am officially a Twilight groupie now! :)

A lesson on Capitalism

A very good example of where we may be headed!

An economics professor at Texas A&M said he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class. The class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said okay, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset, and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too, so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the third test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise. And the professor told them that socialism would ultimately fail too because those who try harder to succeed, reap the greater reward, but when a government takes all the reward away, no one will try or succeed.

Twilight

I just finished Twilight last night!!
I have to admit that when the movie came out, first of all, I had never heard of the books, second, I thought "how cheesy! A movie about Vampires?!" Of course, I had heard that those that read the book were highly disappointed by the movie, but that is pretty normal. My impression is that it was just another teenage girl obsession like High School Musical or Harry Potter.
Sure enough, I borrowed a bunch of books from Allyson a while back and she included Twilight. She made a point to tell me that "it was awesome, just give it a chance." I of course, put it off a while to make sure I read some other books that I knew would be great.
So, about 2 weeks ago, I finished Mercy by Jodi Picoult, and had to pick a new read. I thought, "well, I will give Twilight a chance, but if it is super cheesy, then I will start something else."
Yep! I fell into the trap; I was hooked! Yes! a book about vampires! and NO! it was not cheesy. I immediately fell in love with Edward and wished that I too, could some how become a vampire like Bella wished.
Now, I kind of want to see the movie, but I dont want it to ruin it for me.
Next on my list is to go get Breaking Dawn to continue the saga! :)

Strawberry Festival

This past weekend my sisters, Emily and Hannah, decided they wanted to come visit and go to the annual Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival. So, the gang was here: Emily, Jeremy, Annelise, Hannah, Daniel, and Jeff and I. It is always so much fun! There is a parade in the morning, carnival rides, carnival games, lots of booths to buy some local crafty stuff, and every form of strawberry delicacy you can imagine. One of the contractors for Jeff's work always rents out one of the pavilions so we have free food, drinks, dessert, tables, and most importantly restrooms! lol
We ended up buying some strawberry wine, strawberry jam, strawberry bread, and a large palate of fresh strawberries; not to mention the fresh strawberry daiquiris we had while we were there!
Oh ya! I can't forget the Strawberry King and Queen! lol
That night we had some friends over for dinner and Jeff and Jeremy made some strawberry shortcake with the fresh strawberries we bought at the festival. We opened on of the bottles of wine and had a wonderful time visiting with everyone.
We had a blast and I am so glad that my sisters were here to visit with us. I am truly blessed to have such a close relationship with them. I can't wait until next year!
Here are just a few pictures of the festivities:
