Twilight
A lesson on Capitalism
A very good example of where we may be headed!
An economics professor at Texas A&M said he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class. The class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said okay, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset, and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too, so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the third test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise. And the professor told them that socialism would ultimately fail too because those who try harder to succeed, reap the greater reward, but when a government takes all the reward away, no one will try or succeed.

Twilight

I just finished Twilight last night!!
I have to admit that when the movie came out, first of all, I had never heard of the books, second, I thought "how cheesy! A movie about Vampires?!" Of course, I had heard that those that read the book were highly disappointed by the movie, but that is pretty normal. My impression is that it was just another teenage girl obsession like High School Musical or Harry Potter.
Sure enough, I borrowed a bunch of books from Allyson a while back and she included Twilight. She made a point to tell me that "it was awesome, just give it a chance." I of course, put it off a while to make sure I read some other books that I knew would be great.
So, about 2 weeks ago, I finished Mercy by Jodi Picoult, and had to pick a new read. I thought, "well, I will give Twilight a chance, but if it is super cheesy, then I will start something else."
Yep! I fell into the trap; I was hooked! Yes! a book about vampires! and NO! it was not cheesy. I immediately fell in love with Edward and wished that I too, could some how become a vampire like Bella wished.
Now, I kind of want to see the movie, but I dont want it to ruin it for me.
Next on my list is to go get Breaking Dawn to continue the saga! :)

Strawberry Festival
We ended up buying some strawberry wine, strawberry jam, strawberry bread, and a large palate of fresh strawberries; not to mention the fresh strawberry daiquiris we had while we were there!
Oh ya! I can't forget the Strawberry King and Queen! lol
That night we had some friends over for dinner and Jeff and Jeremy made some strawberry shortcake with the fresh strawberries we bought at the festival. We opened on of the bottles of wine and had a wonderful time visiting with everyone.
We had a blast and I am so glad that my sisters were here to visit with us. I am truly blessed to have such a close relationship with them. I can't wait until next year!
Here are just a few pictures of the festivities:

Anyways, I had to go to the 4th picture folder on my computer and get the 4th picture. It should be completely random; That is what makes this fun! No cheating allowed!
Here it is:

This is a picture from my freshman year Homecoming dance!! My wonderful date was one of my best friends, Brett. I think this picture is so funny; we look so nervous to even hold hands for the picture. haha This brings back so many wonderful memories! :)
So, I tag Allyson! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
