Care For A Spot Of Tea??

Elysha and I threw Stori a small baby shower this morning at The English Tea Room. Let me just say that having it at a location was the best and this place was so wonderful! There was no set up or clean up... they did it all! It was perfect for two new moms. It went really well and I think Stori had fun. I really like her group of friends... I hope to be able to keep seeing them all. :)
Here are a few pictures:
Isn't Stori just so adorable?? She has the cutest belly! :)

I'm going blank...

I was trying to think of a title for this post but my brain is so fried right now, I can't even do that! I was going to put "I think she hates me"... but I that's a little too harsh.
We've had a really hard day today... actually it's been a pretty rough week. I know babies can't really "hate" their mom.. that's why I chose not to title the post that.. but it can sure feel like she prefers other people sometimes.
Avery is going through a phase right now where she has to be held constantly! Luckily, she seems to do fine at night (knock on wood) and will sleep in her crib for good stretches of time... during the day, it's a different story. I can't do anything... literally! I am either sitting as still as I can to keep her happy, rocking in the rocking chair, bouncing on my yoga ball with her on my shoulder, walking outside (although she hates being put in her stroller, so I have to carry her), or walking laps around my house... all of these seem to be the best tricks at keeping her happy. If I stop or try to put her down I brace for ear piercing screams that will go on for hours.
Today, it was 12 hours straight of screaming. I hate to admit it, but I broke down in tears, too. I cried most of the day. I can't stand that I am her mom but I can't soothe her. Aren't babies supposed to want their "mommy"??!! I know she is trying to tell me something but I can't figure out what it is. Why is it that everyone else can make her stop crying, but me?! I guess it's a pride thing, or maybe that I am stubborn, but I hate to admit that I need help with her sometimes. I should be able to handle a 10lb little person... They can't be that scary, right??....
Luckily I have a husband that loves to hold her, because today, the minute he walked in the door, I handed her to him and went for a walk. I needed a breather. Not only were my ears ringing, but at that point I had a migraine and my eyes were swollen from the tears.
I got back from cooling off for about 5 minutes and Jeff had her calmed down and was rocking her to sleep. Ugh! Of course, it was the sweetest thing I've seen, but it was also the most frustrating thing, too. Why couldn't I do that, today?
I really dont mean to complain... Avery is really a wonderful baby and today is really the first "bad" day that we've had. But that doesnt mean that it isnt stressful. I keep getting told that it will pass and not last long. I hope so! She is so sweet and cute when she isn't screaming. lol I can't wait for her to be more interactive so that it will be easier to calm her.
Anyways... Jeff has her now. Feeding her and getting her ready for bed. Maybe she's just a daddy's girl already. If so, that's wonderful! I am grateful every second for those two!
Now, hopefully we have a good night. I have a baby shower in the morning for Stori to get some beauty rest for :)
Are you ready to have posts like this, Stori?? :)

Going Once, Going Twice.... SOLD!

Saturday was the auction at my church where I entered this quilt. I can't remember if I ever posted a picture of the finished product, so here it is:

Well, actually, this isn't the finished product. Apparently, I never took a picture of it when it was finished. What's wrong with me??!! This picture is missing the tiger stripe binding, backing, and top stitching. Thanks to Allyson, I have some pictures at the Auction from her phone. Here it is being auctioned off:

It went for $800! I am very happy that I was able to make something that would bring that much money in for the school. I think I might make another quilt next year... probably not LSU, though. lol

As for me, I won a bunch of lovely items at the auction. Jeffrey won me this Diamond and Amethyst bracelet (Again, this picture was taken on Allyson's phone, so it doesnt do the bracelet justice) :
I was the envy of many women that night. :)
We also won a wine tasting for a group of friends that a couple at the church, Duane and Elizabeth, is going to host. I can't wait for that! They are really sweet and lots of fun.
Those were our 2 big items, but we won a bunch of other stuff in the silent auction, including a facial, and 2 gift cards to my salon and spa... I can't wait to use those!!
Overall it was a great night and we had a lot of fun and were able to get some great things. I can't wait to hear how much money the school was able to make that night.

Olympic Humor

The International Olympic Committee announced Monday that it has taken back the gold medal previously awarded to American skier Lindsey Vonn and given it to U.S. President Barack Obama. Olympic officials said Obama deserved the medal more than Vonn because no one has EVER gone downhill faster than he has!

Baby Nathan

My friend Elysha had her baby on February 18th. Unfortunatly I have not been able to go see them or meet the little man, but Stori went by and took a picture for me on her phone.

Isn't he adorable?! He looks just like his daddy! I look forward to meeting him and having play dates with Avery. :)

Time For A Stroll

Jeff is such a proud daddy! :)

Bath Time

Avery is really starting to like bath time now that she can take real baths (as opposed to sponge baths). I guess the warm water is soothing... I know it is for me :)

Getting the water ready

Ahhh... so relaxed! lol

All Clean :)
Please excuse my appearance... 3 weeks of no sleep or makeup will do this to you.

A Work In Progress

I am so excited about this project I've had going for a while. I was tired of having a mess of a recipe cabinet and having to dig around for the same recipes over and over, so I've put together a binder full of mine and Jeff's favorite recipes. There are some real treasures in there! Some are mine, but most of them come from our moms and grandmas. Ive already got about 60 recipes in there and I keep finding new ones to add to it. I think I am going to have to go get a bigger binder! lol
