My dad sent me this link today with a conversation between TV Guide and Titus Welliver (Black Shirt Guy) about the finale episode. It's a "Must Read"!

Are you ready for some football??!!...

...Griblet is!
I went to Lubbock this weekend to visit Rachel, my friend and roommate from college, so while I was there I was able to stock up on some Tech gear. Along with a few new t-shirts, and a double T sticker for our future SUV family car, Rachel was so sweet and bought our baby 2 onesies and I got one to go along with them. I made sure to get one for each stage of growth so that he/she will have something "Tech" to wear for a long time.
Of course, Jeff is a bit disgruntled by the fact that our baby is already decked out in red and black, but I was nice and promised him that I would get an aTm one, too. I think I might make one that is half red and half maroon and says something like "product of a split household" on it. I think it would be cute! Anyways, here are the pics:

One down...

Soo many more to go...
This project is one that I have been anxiously awaiting for what feels like a really long time. My father in law is an amazing craftsman when it comes to wood working and can make some of the most beautiful pieces of furniture. I commissioned this piece a while back and when they came to visit over the Fathers Day weekend, he brought it up. At that point, however it was unfinished and needed to be stained. We put one coat of stain on together that weekend but then I decided that I wanted it to be a bit darker, so I added another coat. I love it! I know it is pretty dark, but that's just me...
When it came to applying the clear coat, now that was not as easy. I tried about 3 different spray on kinds and they all came out horrible!! (that is why there are some streaks on the inside lid). Oh well, now I know what NOT to use! I finally found some brush on polyurethane that worked a lot better and looks a lot smoother.
Thank you Ronnie for my beautiful blanket chest!! I love it so much and already have it filled to the brim with quilts and blankets.
Front ViewAlready filled!
See my lovely wedding quilt Hannah made me and my Texas Tech quilt made by my mom?!

Geaux Tigers!

No, I have not become a traitor to Texas Tech, but I have become a fan of the love affair that everyone has for LSU around here! As I have mentioned before in a few posts, my church, Trinity Lutheran, has an auction every year to help raise money for the school. Last year I made that Magnolia painting, which did really well, but the real money makers are all of the LSU items. Therefore, this year I have decided to make an LSU quilt in hopes that it will be the big ticket item!
YES, I have started, yet another project! I really need to get into a better habit of finishing projects before I start a new one... oh well!
I have yet to see any quilts at the auction, even amongst all of the other college stuff. I really think it will go over well (that is, if I can get it done by next spring).
So, here are a few of my fabric purchases for the quilt. (the colors look a little off, but they are all mainly golds and purples. I need to figure out how to get better colors on my camera) I will post my progress as I work on it...

Week 10

I found this so interesting and thought I would share every few weeks what the milestones are for baby "Griblet":

This week marks the beginning of the fetal period, which lasts until birth. Your baby's body systems, such as circulatory, nervous, reproductive and digestive, are fully formed during this time. His heart is beating approximately 160-170 beats per minute. Your baby is 27 - 35 mm or 1.06 - 1.38 inches with 1/2 the length being attributed to the head. He weighs between 3 - 4 grams (or less then 1/2 ounce), or 4 paper clips.

Also, your baby will become much more active then before, but unfortunately, his movements are still too small for you to notice. He will be moving his arms and legs, which can be seen on an ultrasound. Your baby's joints are fully formed, as are his tiny hands, feet, fingers and toes. At this age, he would be able to grab an object, if it were placed in his hand, as he grows more and more sensitive to touch. Your baby's eyes are open most of the time but the eyelids are beginning to fuse - they will stay that way until you reach approximately 25 to 27 weeks. The external genitalia are beginning to be able to show your baby's gender and both the external ears and upper lip are completely formed now. Your baby's biggest accomplishment this week is the disappearance of the tail!

Also, your baby is breathing. This breathing activity is noticeable as he "breathes" amniotic fluid. He is beginning to urinate as well.

You're How Old??

Ok, so I won't say, but my good friend Allyson's birthday is today, so she deserves a post. I hope you have a wonderful day today! :)

8 Weeks

Griblet got his first picture taken today! It was so exciting, moving, emotional, etc all at the same time when we saw the little heart beating! It is still weird to me and I can't believe that I am pregnant, but I guess it will kick in sooner or later. :)
The ultrasound is very blurry (as they all are) but it he seems healthy and doing good. We should be hearing from the doctor if there is anything that we need to know, so no news is good news right now.
I can't wait to get the next one done to see how much he grows. I could have sat there all day and watched his little heart beat and wiggle around; it was like he was saying hi to me or something. lol
It's amazing how much you can love someone you haven't even officially met, yet! God is Great, isn't he??!!

New Project

Actually, it's not really all that "new" but I just forgot to blog about it at the time. I bought this chair from Goodwill for only $25 in mid-May when Paige was in town visiting. We both agreed that it would be so much fun to get into refinishing furniture, so this is going to be my "test piece" to see if I am even any good at it.
Here is the before picture. I am in the process of working on it now (along with a million other projects) so when it is done I will post the after picture. I plan to paint it an off white/ivory color, rebuild the seat since it is falling apart, and get some pretty fabric from one of these sites:

Hopefully it cools down a bit outside (to atleast under 100 degrees!) so I can stand being out there longer than a few minutes at a time! Anyhoo... I hope it turns out as good as I plan.

What about the kids???!!

Last night was the last night that I will be watching "Jon and Kate plus 8". I find it so sad and selfish that they have chosen the show over their marriage. Although there are rumors of infidelity, they have denied all of them so obviously they chose not to work through their issues (even if it was an affair, or two) for the health of their family because that would mean forfeiting the show and fame.
I had such high hopes for them since the beginning. they seemed like such Christian loving parents. I even defended them when people would make comments about how "they won't last if with a show like that..." etc. I guess they proved me wrong!
Kate is too in throbbed in her book tours, photo shoots, speaking engagements, and tanning and plastic surgery, and Jon is too bottled up to say that he hates the spot light. Is money really worth losing your spouse and the stability for your kids who already live a crazy life? I feel so bad for those babies! I see Kate coming out in the twin Maddy, and it isn't pretty! I really hope that the ratings go so low that they have to quit the show anyways... maybe then they will realize what they had and work it out.

High Chair

Ive had a few people asking questions about the high chair. Here is a cool little video (It's a bit cheezy, so bare with me) that shows all of the different settings:
