New Features

I've been blogging now for at least 3 years but I am just now figuring out a few features to add on here.
1. I've had the search bar on the left side for a while but I have added some "labels" to give you another way to find a post you are looking for. (I'd like to say that I have actually had people tell me they are looking for a specific post but can't find it! I love having readers so if you are one, thank you! It's nice to know I am talking to someone out there and not just to an empty internet world.) Anyways, I am slowly but surely going through all of my old posts to attach these labels based on their subject. I think I have over 500 so it might take me a while, lol.
2. I have also had people tell me that they don’t like to comment because 1. They don’t like the process that blogger makes you go through and it's too long or 2. They can't figure it out. So, under each post there are "Reactions." Simply pick on if you "like" that post, find it "funny" or "interesting". Easy-Peasy! This way, I know I have some readers other than those that post comments ;)
Here's some instructions on how to comment if you aren't sure how.
*When choosing an identity, if you do not have a Google or blogger account, use the "other" option to insert your name. I don’t mind anonymous comments but of course, I love to know who it is.
3. Under each post there are links to other posts of mine. Once I get the Labels all sorted out this will be even more organized, but it should give you some options of posts to read that are similar to the current one you may be reading.

Thanks again for reading my silly little mommy blog :) !!

Moms' Salary

I couldn't agree more! Click here to see it a bit larger and clearer:

Audubon Zoo

We've been wanting to go to the New Orleans zoo since I moved out here in 2007. It had a pretty bad hit during Katrina but I had heard that it recovered well and that it was the best zoo in the area.
It was a PERFECT weekend for it! It was cool and breezy and hardly any humidity. That is so rare for Louisiana!! Avery seemed to really enjoy seeing the animals and she was so good the whole time; even through having a late and short nap in the car and eating her hotdog and fries on the run. I just love this age she is at! I love how she is so curious, explores, and constantly wants to "go, go, go," and starting to communicate back to me.
Anyways, here's a few pictures of the zoo. I just love animals as subjects for photography but the zoo is not a very good setting with ugly backgrounds and web cages between you and the animals, so these are mainly just some snap shots, nothing too artsy here this time....

Cinderella

Avery discovered my mini broom and dust pan a few weeks ago. She loves to pretend she is sweeping! Maybe it's time we start making her earn her keep around here... Just kidding, of course! :)

Norah's Outfit Part 3

The Onsie...I appliqued her name onto the onsie in the same fabric that I did the "N" on her blanket.

Now, keep in mind, this is the first time for me to try out appliqueing anything so no one is aloud to look real close at the stitching! lol

The "N" was not nearly as challenging as the whole name because I had to shrink the letters down in order to get it to fit on the onsie. Lots of little bitty curves + a new appliquer = lots of jumps and uneven stitches.

I will say, that for my first attempt, these didn't turn out all that bad!

Eating With A Spoon

She's eating yogurt here with a spoon all by herself! I know it sounds trivial, but I was so impressed at how neat she was with it... at least until she dumped the bowl on her head... lol

Where's Your Nose??

I think she's digging for gold! lol

Norah's Outfit Part 2

The banket....I thought this would be the easiest part of the set I would have to do... wrong!

Since I do not own a ruffling foot for my sewing machine, I had to make the ruffle by hand. Holy Moly was I wrong when I thought that wouldn't take long to do!! I did the calculations on how much ruffle I needed which ended up being 114"; which meant I had to make a 208" strip of fabric that would "scrunch" down to that size. It took me forever to get it even ruffled and then to try and keep the ruffle consistant over the whole strip didn't make it any easier. Several nap times and evenings of ruffling has ended up with a ruffling foot on my long wish list, lol.

All in all, I think it turned out great and I decided to applique a "N" to the bottom corner just to give it a little something extra.

Next, on to the onsie...

Norah's Outfit Part 1

I found this zebra print hat and a onsie at the Strawberry Festival and thought it would make an adorable outfit for Norah to come home from the hospital... It only needed a little embellishment :).

So, I have been working on a matching blanket and I am going to applique her name onto the onsie (pictures to come as soon as I am done) in the same Periwinkle fabric I used to make the flower on this hat. I really wanted a bright purple but this is the closest I could find in a paisley print.

I love it and I can't wait to have it finished and ready for her arrival (which is less than 12 weeks away, by the way!)

Happy Mother's Day!

First, I want to say a special "Happy Mother's Day" to my mom and mother-in-law. They are two terrific woman whom I am thankful to have in my life! (Is it "who" or "whom"? I can never get that one right, lol)
Next, I would just like to say that I am so thankful to be the mom of these two little munchkins!

They have made my world a better place and I am a better person because of them. I thank God every day for giving me the chance to raise these little bundles of joy :)

Here's to all of you other moms out there! If you want a laugh, listen to this song, it is so funny and true!

Awesome Mom
Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom
